I sat in thick green grass
with ants skurrying past my fingers,
ignoring my fresh flesh on
the way to paulbear a bettle
towards home for dinner.
My sister was complaining
that her new bunk bed mattress was too hard
and she couldn't sleep.
I told her to be happy
to have a bed at all and
that shut her up real quick.
We watched the tiny creatures
shifting, helping each other carry
the carcass ten times their size,
and I tried to imagine what
it would look like if humans
ever learned the simple lesson
of teamwork.
