Out of the range of the
classroom’s grip I found myself
face first on bricks laid by Roman
guards a thousand years before.
they had probably witnessed a
hundred other drunken fools before
me that had made a series of similar
mistakes ending in blood on cement.
Probably wittnessing crucifxtions and
wedding celebrations and parties for
emperors. I had shifted from the pages
of a history book into history itself,
in the making, and felt the empowerment
of writing my very own chapter
even if it started from the ground up.
