Art's Fortress

Art's fortress has a sacred hall
filled with filtered lights that
shimmer teals, oranges, and other
champagne colors that blind anyone
too close to the stained walls.
The corridors invite the curious,
the poor, and the creative alike
with music of lutes and harps
echoing through empty streets
and ringing in reverent ears
It smells of rosy opportunity
and he approves with wide eyes.
He knows of those striking instant
fortune like J.K. Rowling
but also of those who are stricken
by art's sly evasiveness like Poe.
He tames his greedy heart with
bread and wine and approaches
the shrine pure of body and mind,
ready to pour his soul onto the
fifty foot golden pages,
if he dares.
