Someone Behind You

You're walking by yourself at night and can't help flickering your eyes behind once or twice when you first get going
The topic of stalkers
hot on your mind or the idea of multiverses, slipping through the cracks of a few television shows, as you pull your coat tighter around you as if shivering but there is no breeze, just the inexplicable cold that passes across your paranoia and onto your goosebumps
You keep telling yourself
there's no one there it's a shadow, a tree, a cat in the darkness,
there's no one there
But you have never remembered
darkness quite like this, where there could actually be someone right there behind you.
