Sleeping Places

There are some recurring dreams
that seem to be real places
where I slip into subconsciousness
and act and feel as if awake
Sometimes others meet me there
in a band room from my youth,
where the air still smells of retainers
and shoe polish where the screeches
and chuckles of bullies still echo,
it's nestled beside the freshman
atrium and bright orange lockers

There's definitely another place
that is always a trap that I never
see coming, it might be a hospital
or just a maze-building of corridors
and though I have been here before
and wrote my name across the walls,
I can never remember that the
right path is past the red room until
it's too late,
Your dreams might take you
somewhere else from your
childish memories again and
again but You cannot outrun
these endless landscapes same
as me and you willingly succumb
on a nightly basis to this dreamlike,
nightmare sleeping place.
